Beauty in Pain

This beautiful rustic pine dresser was a real labour of love. Its hard to even think now that the original plan was a beige colour. This was also my most injury prone work yet . I’m already working with an injured finger, then add in many splinters, a hammered thumb and then finally…… chicken wire is absolutely no ones friend to work with. It actually hurts typing this. Obviously though all the pain was totally worth it in the end.

Earthy Dining

Another commission finished this week. How bright and calm do these table and chairs look now. Originally we were going with 2 colours for the set @colourtrendpaints 🎨Old Bone and Mucky Swan but shur you know me I had to reccommend that 3rd colour πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ 🎨 Everlasting Sage. Just the 2 chairs in the green but really sets the whole set off with a mellow pop of colour
You are going to be seeing a lot of table and chairs makeover photos the next while because that’s all I’m working on at the moment πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Dont worry there will be sideboards galore mixed in too. I could really do with employing someone πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

White Ice

Sometimes you look at furniture and think to yourself why was it not always this colour to begin with 😍. This bedroom set looks a million dollars now compared to the before. Such a simple colour change makes the world of difference. My client wanted new crystal knobs and I must say they really set the finish off.

Cute as a Red Button

I know cute is probably not a word you would use on something that has been distressed to within an inch of its life πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but I just can’t deal with how cute this little chest of drawers turned out. As always I gave the current hardware a little red revamp and they just finish the piece off beautifully.

Next week I am booked up for commissions but after the 18th May I’m am crazy booked and probably wont be able to take anymore bookings until end of June I think. Not a bad complaint though πŸ‘Œ
Hopefully I will soon have some updates on when I can start back workshops too 🀞

Reloving in Lockdown

It’s been ages since I revamped a table and chairs and to be fair I’ve been at this one for what seems like ages πŸ™ˆ. I will never take having the paint shop across the road for granted again, It’s just not the same ordering on line πŸ˜ͺ. Its fair to say this table and chairs were definitely in need of some serious tlc and all the hard work has definitely been worth it. @Colourtrendpaints 🎨Porcelain Doll Its probably one of the projects I have wanted to do since I began this business and that was to revamp a table and chairs that wasnt a commission. I wanted to go totally mad with a set but just never got around to sourcing any, but finally I’m after getting a table and chairs. Watch this space, they wont be for the faint hearted πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Blue and Green are the Scene

It’s hard to believe but this dresser was bound for the dump πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I’ve actually had it in the workshop since last year and I’ve also had a design plan for it since then too πŸ™ˆ. Finally the wallpaper has its outing 😍
This amazing colour is aptly called 🎨Aquadazzle from Colourtrend Paints. I didnt have any hardware for it so I used some mismatched ones I had spare and revamped them in this beautiful contrasting green colour that I mixed up. I was saying that while in lockdown I was going to try colour combos that I normally wouldnt. While I had always planned on this main colour with the wallpaper, I wasnt so sure on a contrasting colour for inside so I starting mixing and came up with this green. I am now so in love with this blue green combo. The weird thing is i dont think I can use this main colour again on anything. Id feel like I was cheating on this piece πŸ™ˆ. This happens a lot when I use wallpaper for decoupage too, once I’ve used it on a piece that’s it and I don’t use it again. I have a load of wallpaper left over as you can imagine πŸ˜‚ but it’s all available to use in my workshops so no waste πŸ‘Œ
To be fair if I had room myself I’d be keeping it πŸ˜‰. I dont often keep pieces after i revamp them because i usually know I want a piece beforehand and then revamp it for myself. Every room in my house has painted furniture🎨. I may start a little project for fun and photograph one piece of furniture in my house a day just for the laugh. I’m not sure it will give you any insight into to my style because absolutely nothing matches πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Glazed and Confused

Hey Guys. Check out the new video tutorial I put up yesterday on Revamping Hardware. That was the 3rd tutorial in the series and here is the finished locker i worked on throughout. From video 1 I used wallpaper decoupage on the drawer and video 2 explained how to glaze and distress furniture and finally video 3 discussed revamping and reusing furniture hardware. I also added a photo of another little piece which I used for the napkin decoupage in video 1 and the hardware update. What do you all think? If you have watched the tutorials and are going to try out any of these techniques, I’d love for you to share them with me. And any questions on any of the tutorials just let me know πŸ™‚

Chest of Gold,Red,Orange,Blue

Finally finished the 3rd Chest of Drawers from the @Kollect delivery. Didnt even have a plan for this one just blindly picked a few colours to go with the wallpaper on drawer 3. While I have the time I’m trying out some of the more unusual colour combos. Some will work and some wont no doubt πŸ˜‚.
New handles and a little distressing around the edges to finish. I used distressing on this piece just to break up the paint blocks. You always know when finished painting whether a piece needs just a little extra something and distressing can be the perfect technique to use in that situation. This brings me to the next video tutorial I’m going to do which is all about glazing and distressing. I was hoping to get it done today but time just got away from me so tomorrow it is. Anyone out there right now looking at your pine furniture and thinking about getting rid if it, please rethink and think about upcycling. Whether you try your hand at it yourself or get a professional to do it, I promise you wont regret it and neither will your wallet πŸ˜‰
This piece is available to buy now πŸ™‚

Two/Triangle Style

We had a little last minute change of plan on these lockers. As part of a big commission these were going to be decoupaged too, but there was a change of heart and the lockers are all the better for it. I’m absolutely in love with these myself and I’m certain the little girl who is getting them will too. I don’t really use geometric designs very often but I may very well be swayed to do some more in the future. And I’m in love with this colour combo. At least I’m not short of fab paint colours at the moment 🀣. Just looking at these is making me happy right now lol. So a run down of the colours.

As I was saying I dont use geometric designs very much. And I actually did really enjoy working on these lockers. The other day when I was in the middle of working on these I went to bed that night and actually dreamed a geometric design for a retro desk I have lol. I had no intentions of anything geometric for it but now I cant get the design out of my head. This actually happens me a lot where I dream of designs in my sleep that I dont think I would ever consider when I’m awake lol. Does this happen to anyone else?
I sprayed the wooden hardware on these lockers with a sparkly white gold. Keep an eye out for my upcoming video tutorials as one if them is going to be about Revamping hardware.

Floral Fancy

I have absolutely found my love for decoupage again. I used it so much in the beginning and then it has always been a big part of my workshops, I think I got a little bored with it. I havent even bought napkins in ages and for anyone that knows me they will be shocked by that news πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. This is the 2nd set of a commission I’m working on so 1 set left to go and guess what…. it’s going to be more decoupage.
I’m finally going to sit down next week and think about doing a couple of videos. The main ones I have been thinking about doing are a decoupage tutorial and a glazing tutorial. I will see how it goes but at least I’m finally thinking about it so thats a start. I always stayed away from online videos mainly because I focused on real life workshops which personally I find is my niche. I love meeting people and spending the day teaching upcycling and always having the craic. Since i work alone i found the workshops just as important for me as anyone coming to them. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the road again, whenever that may be 🀞
I also woke up this morning and got dressed in my work clothes and headed out to the workshop. Turned on the radio and realised it was Saturday πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Now I know every day is the same right now but I’m still taking my weekends off. I promised myself to keep some sort of a routine so its house cleaning day instead 🀣 and then a big long 2km walk 🐩🐩 and definitely clothes that dont have paint on them. Its that kind of day πŸ€ͺ
Have a great Saturday everyone cc
