This has always driven me crazy about how certain paint companies make it seem like you just open the tin, get your brush and off you go. The first picture is after I washed down the piece with methylated spirits to get the surface dirt off. The second picture is after I scrubbed thoroughly with sugar soap (pic 3 is just from that small area). Very old pieces like these most often will have come from houses where people smoked but because it’s a progressive ingrained stain over many years, it can look to people that it is just now the colour of the wood. Always double check old furniture when cleaning otherwise you are wasting your time painting it 🙂
I feel like it has been forever since I painted something red. But the minute this piece arrived into the workshop it was earmarked for red no matter what, and i think its sage to say it paid off. This will also be available in my Facebook shop in next day or two. In the meantime if you are interested in buying this piece just fill out the Contact Form
My 2 favourite classic colours. I’m certain you all know by now that @colourtrendpaints 🎨Mucky Swan is my go to White and 🎨Dressage is my go to Black. This is the first time I’ve used both together but they are just fabulous. This is a big transformation from that dark old fashioned brown.
Now taking group bookings for August and September. Both weekdays and weekend dates are available. For more info and bookings please fill out the Contact Form
The first time I ever upcycled furniture was over 10 years ago. Moved into new house with loads of furniture and even then I hated seeing it go to waste so I painted everything in the bedroom black and I loved it. And i still adore black furniture (and clothes 😂). Its very seldom anyone asks for black but when they do you just know it’s going to look class. I cannot recommended enough @colourtrendpaints 🎨 Dressage Black. It is without a doubt my go to black and yes I promise there is a difference in blacks lol. The same as there are about 10 million diff Whites 🙈🙈 (slight exaggeration)
Anyhow a big Happy Friday to you all now c’mon Sun 🌞 I see you struggling.
Had a such a lovely day with Judith and Ann in one of my private workshops. We got through so many techniques including decoupage, stencilling, glazing, distressing and dry brushing 😊. 3 fab finished pieces. What a fabulous surprise to find myself in @rsvpmagazine1 this month. I’m just a little bit excited 🤣🤣. This dressing table has always been one of my favourite ever revamps and to have it shared with the whole of Ireland is just amazing.
I’ve had a load of enquires about the Self Adhesive Contact Paper from Home Textile Warehouse that I used on some projects recently. It really is fantastic for updating furniture and it is so easy to use too. There are loads of different designs to choose from from florals to metallics to wood. If you are interested in finding out more or ordering check out their website at Home Textile Warehouse
I may have many many aches and pains after going to see Metallica at the weekend but I still had to finish this piece off today. Only had a little bit to do so I suffered through 😂😂. Had a little fun with it too using a few different colours and blending them together. This piece is for sale and will be up in my Facebook shop shortly.
Without a doubt these desks really give you that feeling of nostalgia. Memories of being back in primary school, for me anyhow (I feel very old right now 😂😂)
I think a lot of us might also remember often getting a slap off the ruler too sitting at these desks ( was that just me?? 🤔) However regardless of what memories these desks bring they are still fab to look at and if anything that little bit of colour now brings the fun back and they are ready to make new memories for a little boy and girl. ❤❤
Colours brought to you by Colourtrend Paints 🎨 Trisha Eyes, Auburn Wave, Calmness and Sin City. My trust #TWOFUSSYBLOKES rollers really hit the mark as always with these pieces.
